Stainless Steel is available in a variety of finishes, with the most common being brushed satin #4, mirror polished, and non-directional. In environments with high salt air, industrial pollutants, or acid rain, Type 316 alloy is recommended to prevent corrosion and pitting. Durable outdoor protective coatings are also available and recommended. Ask your Project Manager for guidance on finishes and protective coatings suited to your application.

While stainless steel is often thought to be stain-resistant, visible staining can occur in exterior environments due to factors like rain, dirt, carbon leaching, and diesel fumes. To ensure long-lasting appearance, all exterior stainless steel applications undergo passivation treatments. Contact your Project Manager to discuss the importance of this treatment for your project.
